The fine print, in plain English
Terms & Conditions
These terms cover how you shop with MC Bear. We have kept them plain and fair. Nothing here takes away the rights New Zealand law gives you as a consumer.

About these terms
MC Bear ("we", "us", "our") is a New Zealand outdoor and camping gear retailer based in Auckland, operating mcbear.co.nz. By browsing the site and placing an order, you agree to these terms. If anything here is unclear, email orders@mcbear.co.nz before you buy and we will happily explain.
Orders and acceptance
When you place an order, you are making an offer to buy. Your order is accepted once we confirm it and dispatch your gear, or have it ready for pickup. Occasionally we may need to decline or cancel an order, for example if an item is out of stock or a genuine pricing error has occurred. If we do, we will tell you promptly and refund anything you have paid in full.
Pricing and GST
All prices are shown in New Zealand dollars and include 15% GST. Delivery costs, where they apply, are shown at checkout before you pay. We take care to price everything correctly, but if a clear error slips through, we will let you know and give you the choice to proceed at the right price or cancel for a full refund.
Payment
We accept the payment methods shown at checkout. Payments are processed securely by our payment provider, and your full card details are never stored on our servers. Your order is confirmed once payment is successfully completed.
Your consumer rights
As a consumer in New Zealand, you are protected by the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 and the Fair Trading Act 1986. Nothing in these terms limits or takes away those rights. The goods we sell must be of acceptable quality, match their description, be fit for purpose and last a reasonable time. If they fall short, you are entitled to a repair, replacement or refund. See our Returns & Refunds page for how this works in practice.
Pre-orders and sourced items
Some items are pre-ordered or specially sourced to order. Lead times we give for these are good-faith estimates, not guarantees. If a pre-order is going to be materially later than quoted, you may cancel it for a full refund, and if we cannot supply an item you have paid for, we refund you in full. See how pre-orders and sourcing work.
Delivery and risk
We deliver across New Zealand and offer free Auckland pickup. Delivery timeframes are estimates based on our couriers. Your gear remains our responsibility until it reaches you, so if a parcel is lost or damaged in transit, contact us and we will put it right. Full details are on our Shipping & Delivery page.
Returns
On top of your Consumer Guarantees Act rights, we offer a 30-day change-of-mind return on unused items in their original condition. The conditions, and how to start a return, are set out on our Returns & Refunds page.
Our liability
To the extent the law allows, our liability to you is limited to the value of the goods you purchased, and we are not liable for losses that were not reasonably foreseeable. This does not limit any rights you have under the Consumer Guarantees Act, the Fair Trading Act, or any other right that cannot legally be excluded.
Intellectual property
The content on this site, including text, images, logos and the MC Bear name and character, belongs to us or our suppliers and may not be copied or used without our permission.
Governing law
These terms are governed by New Zealand law, and any dispute is subject to the New Zealand courts. If something ever goes wrong, we would always rather sort it out with you directly first. The Disputes Tribunal is also available for many consumer matters.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. The version on this page at the time you place your order is the one that applies to that order. The date at the top shows when we last updated them.
